  12. I have a NeXTstation color and a Data General Aviion server.  The
  13. Aviion has a 525 MB 1/4 drive and I'd love to backup my NeXT to
  14. it.  Here's what I've tried :

  16. if I do the following as myself I get:

  18. cara> /etc/rdump 0uf host1:/dev/rmt/1 /Homes/bmcquaid/Forms
  19.   DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Mon Aug 17 10:17:23 1992
  20.   DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
  21.   DUMP: Dumping /Homes/bmcquaid/Forms to /dev/rmt/1 on host host1
  22.  DUMP: bad sblock magic number
  23.   DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted.

  25. if I do the following as superuser I get:

  28. Permission denied.
  29. Permission denied.
  30. rdump: rcmd of /etc/rmt and /usr/etc/rmt failed

  32. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I'm not a UNIX guru so I
  33. hope it's something simple and obvious.  Thanks in advance!!
