  20. stay away from it..  There have been a great number of problems with V.32bis
  21. modems based on rockwell's design....

  27. The "bis" portion is a french suffix which very roughly translated means
  28. "extension of."..  If it is V.32bis, it inherntly is compatable with V.32.

  32. I think its basically a "buy our product cause we use big words" ad.  The
  33. 16550 is a UART, which comes in a 40pin DIP package.  It stands for 
  34. Universal Asynchronous Reciever Transmitter.  Basically, it is the part of
  35. your serial port that converts parallel to serial and vise versa.  The
  36. Unique thing about the 16550 is that it has an internal buffer to help
  37. avoid loss of characters at high speed...
