  20. enjoy working on their cars, the majority just want to *drive* them.
  21. This analogy is becoming more true, each day, in the PC world.

  27. I would disagree.  I've been using two 486 PC's now for months, as has
  28. most of my department, without a hitch.  From your earlier advice, you
  29. suggested buying a bunch of parts as cheaply as possible and putting
  30. together a system.  Perhaps there's something to be said against
  31. that, since you do get what you pay for.  Could it be the problems
  32. you've seen are resulting from "economic tradeoffs?"  There's no
  33. evidence, that I know of, to support the "486's are buggy" statement.
  34. Read PC Mag or Byte.  You never see these sorts of problems in their
  35. reviews.  And, my experience, and that of those I work with, shows 486's
  36. to be completely solid.
