  14. Please excuse me if this isn't the correct place to post, but I`m at the
  15. end of my rope.

  17. I`m trying to hook up an HP7580 drafting plotter to a Sun SPARC2.  I have tried
  18. a couple of different printcap entries, but none seem to work.  All that happens
  19. is the error light on the plotter going on.  I get no error messages on the
  20. Sun side.

  22. Here are the settings on the plotter:
  23. 9600 baud
  24. RS232 cable in the "TERMINAL" port (straight through cable)
  25. RS232 dip switch settings:    Parity OFF/ODD
  26.                 Full Duplex
  27.                 Hardwire
  28.                 Normal

  30. It is connected to the TTYA port of the sun.  I have tried a very vanila
  31. entry, that looks like:
  32. hp7580|hp|local D size HP pen plotter:\
  33.         :lp=/dev/ttya:\
  34.         :mx#:sh:\
  35.         :br=#9600:\
  36.         :sd=/usr/spool/hp7580:\
  37.         :st=/usr/spool/hp7580/status:\
  38.         :lf=/usr/spool/hp7580/errorlog:

  40. .. and other more complicated entries, but they all cause the error light to
  41. go on on the plotter.

  43. Can anyone give me a clue as to what is going on?  Could I have a hardware
  44. problem with the plotter?
