- My interest in the Vivid 24 is derived in what it COULD do for the buck.
- Like most American concepts, the high end users are sold on high-concept
- items like Mac, SGI, etc. where sales gimmicry means as much OR MORE than
- the actual functionality of the system. Vivid 24 represents a GREAT
- potential product as far as cost effectiveness is concerned. I DON'T know
- if DMI's figure of 100,000 shaded polygons is accurate within a factor of
- 10, but if it is even moderately accurate, then I'll try to promote it,
- even if I can't afford one myself. The problem is, and DMI acknowledges
- it, is the availability of software for it. We'll wait till HADES freezes
- over before Alias or Wavefront port something over to the Amiga, so we're
- going to have to bootstrap it yet again. Let's just hope that somebody
- picks up the ball before it's too late, AGAIN.
