- Figuring that I should get with it, and having a couple of spare
- hours, I brought up xntpd3 (louie.udel.edu:/pub/ntp/xntp3.tar.Z) on a
- machine that will be timeserver.cs.umb.edu. Having used xntpdc before
- to get a better idea of whether or not things are funtioning properly,
- I started it up against the version 3 server, and everything worked as
- expected.
-
- Then just to check on sanity a little, I ran it against
- timeserver.cs.umb.edu which runs xntp2. However I timed out on the
- connection. Then I tried it with an xntp2 xntpdc. This one worked
- fine. Ok, no problem I have to change the queries from v3 to v2, but
- I can't find any command to do that!
-
- Do I really need to keep both v3 and v2 versions of xntpdc around to
- do runtime configuration on the two different types of servers?
-
- Are there any other problems that people have come across when
- changing from version 2 to version 3 and interoperating v2 and v3?
