  14. Figuring that I should get with it, and having a couple of spare
  15. hours, I brought up xntpd3 (louie.udel.edu:/pub/ntp/xntp3.tar.Z) on a
  16. machine that will be timeserver.cs.umb.edu.  Having used xntpdc before
  17. to get a better idea of whether or not things are funtioning properly,
  18. I started it up against the version 3 server, and everything worked as
  19. expected.

  21. Then just to check on sanity a little, I ran it against
  22. timeserver.cs.umb.edu which runs xntp2. However I timed out on the
  23. connection.  Then I tried it with an xntp2 xntpdc. This one worked
  24. fine.  Ok, no problem I have to change the queries from v3 to v2, but
  25. I can't find any command to do that!

  27. Do I really need to keep both v3 and v2 versions of xntpdc around to
  28. do runtime configuration on the two different types of servers?

  30. Are there any other problems that people have come across when
  31. changing from version 2 to version 3 and interoperating v2 and v3?
