- Well, after buying OS/2 2 for only A$99 at the PC-Show last week (I knew
- the PC show'd be useful for something :-) I've finally got around to
- installing it. Everything installed fine, looked ok running windows,
- OS/2 & dos applications concurrently, but I was bored with 16 colours,
- so I decided to put the Trident drivers in.
-
- I got the latest drivers I could find (trios22a), & started following
- the instructions. However, I didn't get very far. I made the usual
- back-ups, checked that IOPL=YES was in the config file, and then
- went into a full-screen DOS session, to enter "SVGA ON". Herein
- lieth the problem - it not only didn't produce a file by name of
- SVGADATA.PMI, it gave me the message:
-
- SVGA: PMI File Generator (v1.00)
- Usage: SVGA <ON | OFF>
-
- Now I'm stuck. I can't get SVGA to give me anything but this message
- (or a file not found if I try to be stupid and take it literally and
- enter "SVGA <ON | OFF>"), so I can't get the file & proceed further.
- It just gives me this stupid usage message, which I am following,
- no matter what I do. Anyone else had this problem, or do you think
- I'm one of the lucky people who has got a corrupt copy? It's size
- 43761, dated 3-30-92 12:00, not that that means much.
-
- I'm running OS/2 as dual boot along with DOS 5, so am using the normal
- FAT, not HPFS, and had no problems at all during installation, so I have
- no reason to believe that I have a faulty disk - any ideas?
-
- Thanks in advance.
