  12. I have a Zoom VFX V.32bis fax modem. I'm trying to set up a simple BBS so my
  13. pals can phone me in the middle of the night, up and download files and leave
  14. messages. I've "auditioned" about half a dozen BBS programs, all of which have
  15. different modem initialization strings (usually of the "default" variety) and a
  16. lot of other mumbo-jumbo which makes me feel like I'm swimming in an alphabet
  17. soup of Hayes commands. I'm just wondering, is there any kind of all-purpose
  18. initialization string which I could use with this modem? I'm having some really
  19. weird problems as a result of not doing things correctly. For example, I set
  20. the top speed in the BBS program at 2400, locked this as the top speed, and a
  21. friend who has exactly the same modem phoned up, having set his top speed also
  22. at 2400. Both our 14.4K and V32 lights came on! Any assistance or advice would
  23. be really appreciated.
