  20. You will need BookManager Read for DOS or OS/2 to read CD-ROM. Obviously,
  21. the VM version can only read from DASD. I've been told by someone here from IBM
  22. that we have to copy the CD-ROM to a minidisk to be able to use
  23. BookManager Read/VM, but a programming annoucement I have here says that"most
  24. of these on-line books are distributed on the same type of medium as the associ
  25. ated licensed program. In some cases, they are distributed on CD-ROM;
  26. or they are distributedon both the product's media and on CD-ROM".

  28. I have here a "catalog" by Russ Teets (IBM, ISMD Optical Publishing) dating
  29. back March 21, 1992, mentioning "VM/ESA Softcopy Library Release 1", form
  30. number SV21-9131-01, 47033 K, Oct. 1991; also a "VM/ESA ES/9000 Demonstration
  31. CD-ROM", SK2T-0839-00, 11774 K, Jan. 91. Nothing about VM/XA.

  33. BookManager Read/VM requires IBM C Compiler, REXX Compiler and GDDM.
  34. SoftCopy is not a prequisite (not even mentioned), although the word
  35. "softcopy" appears in the title of the VM/ESA documentation above.
