  20. A bot can't see everyone on the net.  Simple. A server can.

  23. Monitor is not a server. It's a service, (yes yes.. I know it has no S line
  24. as of course we all know there is only ONE person with the service code).
  25. To do what it does, it requires the information that a server can see, and 
  26. not a bot.  It has no obligation to return every peice of information that
  27. a server would, yet it returns, TRACE, and ADMIN.  What else do you really
  28. need to verify what it is?

  41. You are absolutely totally wrong.  monitor is used by admins throughout 
  42. the US to look up stats on various sites.  The reason it's not the same
  43. as using /links and /lusers is that it keeps a continuous record. IT 
  44. remembers EVERYONE in the US domains that has used IRC. It's got a database
  45. with every subdomain.top-domain pair in the country from which someone
  46. has used irc and it keeps track of exactly how many people from a 
  47. given domain have used irc.  This is useful for finding out whether a
  48. site has any local users and whether they need a server, etc etc.
