- The police did something along these lines in the 1950's. They would
- put spectacularly wrecked cars (not bodies though) in places where they
- could be clearly seen. There was one on Edmonton Green for a time,
- which I recall vividly. The practice had no effect on road accidents,
- but it did rather horrify people. The fact is that people are quite
- capable of erecting psychological defences against the horrific. A
- subtler approach (Try telling _her_ drunk driving doesn't hurt anyone)
- is more likely to be productive.
