- For those who may not have heard the news yet, Apple today announced that
- it plans to extend "hard cost" benefits (i.e. health benefits) to the
- same-sex domestic partners of its U.S. employees starting July 1, 1993.
-
- Apple extended "soft cost" benefits (use of the fitness center, bereavement
- leave, etc.) to domestic partners of employees in July, 1992, but hesitated
- to go any further until now.
-
- John Sculley's announcement today is *very* welcome news, and more details on
- what all of this means to Apple employees will be available during the
- open enrollment period in April.
-
- Way to go!
