- I just read an artile in today's (28 Jan) Los Angeles Times about The
- Advocate and its current hard times. Besides "downsizing" their work
- force, they're being sued by a man who claims that he was sexually
- harassed by his male supervisor and by a lesbian editor who claims
- that she was discriminated agains because she's female/lesbian.
-
- In the sexual harassment case, The Advocate originally tried to have
- the case thrown out of court on the grounds that same-sex sexual
- harassment was not prohibited by law. The lawyer for the man suing
- said that it most certainly was. Apparently The Advocate agrees,
- since they withdrew that motion.
-
- Other woman editors have quit, saying that they too were discriminated
- agains because they were lesbians. On the other hand, the editor who
- replaced one of these women is also a lesbian, which the management
- claims is proof that they don't discriminate.
