- Well, I know of a case, northwest of Kontom in May or early June
- of 1971. We called this an "aerial ambush". What they did was to
- have 30 to 40 men sitting in a square formation with their AKs
- ready. Several hunderd yards in each direction from the "ambush"
- was an observer with a field phone. When any aircraft passed over
- one of the "observers" on a heading that would take him over the
- "ambush" he would give the order to fire and all the troops would
- fire a whole magazine straight up. The aircraft would fly through
- this hail of fire and normally take several hits even if it was an
- F-4! BTW, I also got shot down by one of these once, but not in an
- F-4. It was a UH-1C I was flying.
