  32. The 6yr old FVH-960 that I have started the squealing about a year ago and
  33. died a few weeks after that.  It needed new belts/capstan.  Cost about
  34. $120.  Bad idea.  Should've bought a new one.  (It also ate a tape as well
  35. when it died. ;-( )

  37. Now, a year later, it is in the early stages of dying again.  Buttons on
  38. the console work erraticly and so forth.  I just purchased a new Hi-Fi VCR
  39. anticipating the Fisher's death.  Maybe I can do some tape editing now that
  40. I have 2 VCR's (for as long as the 960 lives).

  42. Consumer reports rated Fisher as having the highest repair rate of *ANY*
  43. VCR maker.  The 960 has very good sound and audio, but I would avoid future
  44. Fisher VCR's.  Look at Sony and JVC.
