- I think the fundamental problem is that they want to sell as many
- devices as possible, i.e. video, DAT, back-up, etc. It would technically
- be very easy to combine all functions in one unit, but then the total sales
- would go down. This is typically Japanese. I have also seen products here
- in Japan having lots of functions implemented but not available to the user.
- Then they can easily release a "new" product having a few more functions
- than its predecessor. As a customer I really feel cheated. Doesn't anyone
- agree ? Recently, for example, I was going to buy a Sony TV set with Y/C
- inputs, but the dealer told me only models larger than 25" have this feature. It
- would be both cheap and simple to include Y/C even on other models.
- Besides, the Japanese haven't got any idea about how to make their products
- compatible with world standards, which is another source of annoyance, I think.
