- Glaciers are flowing pieces of ice (unlike stationary snow fields
- which Mt. Hood's ski area is). They have certain angles and thickness
- to get them to have plastic flows. This also means conditions constantly
- change. However, ice as a solid has certain problems trying to flow:
- in short this is where a crevice can form. It is possible to fall into
- these. Resorts having glaciers typically rope crevaced areas off.
-
- Glacier skiing is skiing on a glacier.
- Glacier skiing, typically, is not beginner skiing.
- There tends to be more ice in some areas. You might see (ski) a little
- glacial "till" or debris ("flour" or gravel) being carried by the glacier in
- later season (again which they will close to protect your skis).

-
- main slopes are probably closed, with far fewer glacier slopes open.
- Good is a subjective accessment dependent upon the person asking.
- Most skiers will be kept from noticeable differences to protect them.
- But ask them (the specific resort).
