- An update on this tragedy from the Chicago area 2200 newscast:
- Apparently, the BN engineer was not following procedures when he pulled
- out onto the main line. He did not radio the dispatcher for clearance
- to enter the main line.

- According to the Aurora paper, no hazardous materials were
- involved from either train. The Fire Department was concerned about
- spilled Diesel fuel, and laid down spill blankets to absorb the oil.
