- Before I met my SO, he used to have a grey mare called Silhouette, Arab X
- Haflinger, and at the time there was a craze for those cheapo metal detectors.
- Apparently the whole family were out in the fields complete with the
- detector, and when they were busy rumageing in the grass for something they
- thought they had detected, Silhoutte picked up the detector by grasping the
- handle between her teeth and wandered off accross the field with it happily
- bleeping to itself. I would *love* to have seen this!
-
- For those of you who remember baby Non from last March (now a strapping
- great weanling!), her favourite toy was when some kind soul threw an old
- feather pillow over the fence. I arrived the next morning to find the sad
- remains of the pillow and a happy fluffy foaly covered in identically
- coloured fluffy downy chicken feathers. To complete the picture, when
- I had dusted the feathers off I picked up her feet and found one of Mari's
- molar teeth which she must have just shed sticking into the sole of one of
- Non's feet. Talk about horse feathers and hen's teeth...
-
- Of course Non's REAL favourite plaything is Rickie, my old gelding. Nothing
- else, even Mari, comes close as an ideal playmate. She was SOOOOOO
- disapointed when Rickie got laminitis in the summer and wouldn't play with
- her *despite* all her best attempts at springing at him and rearing up and
- bashing him on the tips of his ears. Their favourite time was when there
- was a new pony put in the field next door and they BOTH jumped in and spent
- the day chasing to poor thing round and round. Mari stayed behind, being
- a well mannered sort of horse, but poor Non was ever so thirsty by the time
- I got there in the evening to return her to her mum.
-
- I guess I'll have to post a bio too, or Terri won't forgive me ;-)
