- I am sorry that I did not catch the name if the poster who asked
- about opinions on longe work, but heres mine (for what it is worth).

- I have read several articles on schooling the older horse on the
- longe line and practiced it myself with the success that you have had.
- Tommy Manion (trainer) believes that 30 days on the longe line with
- side reins and a snaffle are better than 90 days riding. The reward
- punishment is always the same, no variation in the amount of pressure
- put on the reins and gives the horse a steadier frame to work under
- without the variations in our hands. I have found that it works very
- well and teaches horses to accept contact on the bit. I also use a
- chambon (french cavalry headsetting device) n conjunction with the
- snaffle bit and longe the horse. The chambon teaches the horse to
- round his back and reach under himself. 30 days in the round pen
- has sure turned around alot of horses for me. Good Luck with yours.
