- This is a Great idea! Altho, the quantity has gotten me really
- behind in my reading.
-
- Anyway, my name is Lynn Pfau. I work for AT&T Bell Labs in
- the Network Systems division - I've been here for 14 yrs and
- have done software programming, systems engineering,
- product management, pricing, etc.
-
- I've also been a horse addict all my life - I firmly believe
- that there's a horse "gene" lurking out there. I started to
- ride as a child - my dad had horses in his early 20's - he
- actually rode to strengthen a leg weakened by polio. He rode
- in the Chicago area with a rather sleazy character named
- Silas Jayne - you local people prob. recognize the name - the
- Jayne family is still active in horses I believe.
- Since my father knew how expensive horses could get, he would
- pay for lessons, but never a horse. So I had to wait until
- I got to college to get my first. I went to Purdue and rode
- at Foxton Farm. While in my early 20's I had 2 TBs - one nice,
- one nutty.
-
- I sold my second horse to build a house, help support my
- husbands business (he owns a pharmacy), etc. So, I went 12
- years without a horse. In that time I also had 2 children
- ages 5 and 8. I took lessons on and off, but found it hard
- to ride school horses after owning my own. About 4 years ago
- I began to ride at Fox Meadow Farm in Naperville, Il and after
- a year bought my current horse - a TB mare, soon to turn 7 yrs.
- I now board my horse with Barb Ashbaugh, a hunter/jumper trainer.
-
- I am primarily a hunter rider, but have taken a fair amount of
- dressage (yes, I finally learned how to actually sit the canter!).
- I love to ride cross country, but am too chicken to try eventing
- (well, maybe I'll try a mini-event this year).
- I am planning to show my horse on the B hunter circuit this year.
- I also love to trail ride - I've been trailering to the area
- forest preserves and having a great time - I've discovered
- that my mare is almost bomb proof - much to my delight, since I
- have hopes of passing her on to my children.
-
- My mare has moon blindness, which we've been treating
- daily (ie as a preventative) with a human eye drop that
- my husband came across - (along with the traditional treatment
- of aspirin, which by itself didn't seem like enough).
- Its really been working well - if anyone out there is interested
- let me know.
-
-
- Thats it -
