- Hello all, still seem to be having problems, but I'll try to post this one
- I want to get in on this bio stuff.
-
- I am Colleen Cicarelli, and work as a Customer Support Engineer for Hewlett-
- Packard in Spokane, Washington. 'nuff said about that...
-
- I was not born horse-crazy, but got bit by that bug when I was 10. I sat
- next to a girl at school who had a Breyer Misty of Chincoteague (sp?) model.
- That was all it took.
-
- I lied, I was 8, I just don't know how to edit different lines yet. When I
- was 10, I started lessons at Double Eagle Stable (any of you QH people ever
- heard of Sugar's Sun Lad? he was the stud there). I started Western but
- moved to English (hunt seat) when I found out I couldn't jump in a Western
- saddle, tried it once on my own later, got punched in the stomach by the
- horn, then I knew why :). I rode and showed a horse from the track named
- Okie Drifter, a.k.a. Drifter for short, Clod for shorter. I got hooked on
- jumping when I rode him. We also boarded racehorses at our house that I
- could ride around, and had a great pony-horse named Joker there for awhile
- that taught me not to fear the world outside of an arena. (Is this common
- terminology? Pony-horse = horse that leads the racehorses to the gate?)
-
- I had my own horse for 4 years, and like all of your first horses (most of
- them) he was the best horse in the world! I had to sell him when I moved
- away for college... :( and still miss him.
-
- I didn't ride for 8 years (I don't know how I survived) while I was going to
- school, getting a job, getting married, etc...
-
- I started again last May and am now firmly settled on a 16 hand, 10 year old
- palomino QH/TB mare, Virtie (Virtues and Vices, what a name..) It took some
- settling, too, I fell off a number of times (thank God for helmets!!) while
- she was re-learning to jump. No-one wanted to ride her because of her bad
- habits but I guess I was just too stubbo... I mean, I saw what she would
- be like if she ever learned not to stop. Now she hasn't refused in a month,
- and I haven't fallen off in over 2 months (this was a big deal, staying on)
- and it feels like she's starting to really relax and enjoy herself, its about
- time...
-
- The GREAT news for me is that I get to show her next summer in some local
- (and maybe some not-so-local) hunter/jumper shows!! Yippeeee!!
-
- Anyway, sorry this got so long, keep those bios coming!!
