- 2) you restrict your ability to cope with contingencies (e.g. bad weather)

- Note that the latter is not necessarily dangerous if you are not so far in
- that the "bail out" option is still available. And if you take a stove as a
- source of heat, you still have a bit of safety margin if the bail-out option
- fails you. On the other hand, I'd go with others or somewhere well-traveled or
- somewhere disgustingly safe and/or predictable.

- Also, if you are going somewhere you are familiar with, you could take
- advantage of that knowledge to reduce the load, e.g. a hidey-hole in a
- boulderfield to eliminate the tent, etc.
