- Concerning Abbey and film-references:
-
- Did anyone else notice this curious bit in Oliver Stone's "JFK".
- During the courtroom scene the Jim Garrison character quotes the
- famous Abbey line "The patriot must always be ready to defend his
- country from its government".
-
- However he attributes it merely to "an American naturalist..."
-
- Does anyone know anything about this? Why were they (apparently)
- specifically avoiding mentioning/naming Abbey? (Maybe couldn't get a
- release from Abbey's family?)
-
- (A thousand pardons if this has already been discussed to death. I
- only saw the movie for the first time recently.)
-
- [BTW, does anyone know the exact source of this quote?]
