  14. I have a 1970 Karmann Ghia, and a BIG problem.  The other day I went to open
  15. the engine compartment, and the cable broke.  Now replacing the cable is not a
  16. big deal, but I have to get into the engine compartment to do so.  So, the
  17. question is;

  19. Does anyone know how to open the lid manually?  (The cable broke off too far in
  20. to get, so that option is out.)

  22. I looked at the underside of the body where the latch mounts, and there are 4
  23. weld nuts about 4.5 inches apart.  Anyone know if these are in fact the latch
  24. mount bolts?  If so, in an emergency I could drill them out (yuck) or possibly
  25. use a bolt extractor (in reverse?).  Anyway, I would really apreciate any info.
