- I have a 1970 Karmann Ghia coupe, and a problem. The last time I pulled
- the knob to open the engine compartment, the cable broke. Replacing the
- cable assembly is no big deal, but to do it I have to be able to get into
- the engine compartment. (No, the cable did not break in such a way that I
- can access it with pliers, etc.) Does anyone have a good (hopefully
- non-destructive) method of opening the lid?
-
- I have examined the underside of the body where the latch mounts, and there
- are 4 weld bolts about 4.5 inches apart about where I would expect the
- latch to mount. Can anyone tell me if these are in fact the latch bolts?
- If so, as a last resort I could drill them out, or possibly use a screw
- extractor (in reverse?).
-
- Please let me know if you have any ideas.
-
- Thank you.
