- I am looking for an application that will allow me to include
- X-Window screen dumps in Mac-produced documentation. I can create
- screen dumps on my SPARC with xwd or xgrabsc and these create various
- internal representations that I can manipulate on my SPARC (e.g.
- with the drawing application tgif). However, I need to include
- some screen snapshots inside some MSWord files. I was hoping not
- to have to go the full encapsulated postscript route -- there is
- a facility called ps2eps-mac which might work but it seems like overkill.
-
- I had an application I saved off the net called Display X/Sun which
- looked like it might handle this but on my Powerbook 100 today, I couldn't
- make it work (system 7.01 tuned). There was a 1-page doc file that
- cautioned that Sun raster images produced by xwd must be transferred in
- binary mode and I did that but I couldn't get the app to process the
- file successfully (Unimplemented trap error I recall). Running under
- 6.08L, left the app unable to find a file it could open at all.
-
- The doc identifies the author as Eric Anderson, eta@ic.berkeley.edu.
- I fingered this userid at ic.berkeley.edu and didn't turn up any info.
-
- So, anyone know more about this particular app (e.g. how to make it
- work under system 6 or 7)?
-
- Are there other alternatives?
-
- I also know about ghostscript 2.5.2 on the Mac and its ability to
- make picts, but I think there is an unacceptable loss in quality
- in the resulting pict image.
-
- Any and all help appreciated.
-
- I will summarize useful results as I find them.
-
- Thanks.
