  13. I am looking for an application that will allow me to include
  14. X-Window screen dumps in Mac-produced documentation.  I can create
  15. screen dumps on my SPARC with xwd or xgrabsc and these create various
  16. internal representations that I can manipulate on my SPARC (e.g.
  17. with the drawing application tgif).  However, I need to include
  18. some screen snapshots inside some MSWord files.  I was hoping not
  19. to have to go the full encapsulated postscript route -- there is
  20. a facility called ps2eps-mac which might work but it seems like overkill.

  22. I had an application I saved off the net called Display X/Sun which
  23. looked like it might handle this but on my Powerbook 100 today, I couldn't
  24. make it work (system 7.01 tuned).  There was a 1-page doc file that
  25. cautioned that Sun raster images produced by xwd must be transferred in
  26. binary mode and I did that but I couldn't get the app to process the
  27. file successfully (Unimplemented trap error I recall).  Running under
  28. 6.08L, left the app unable to find a file it could open at all.

  31. I fingered this userid at ic.berkeley.edu and didn't turn up any info.

  33. So, anyone know more about this particular app (e.g. how to make it
  34. work under system 6 or 7)?

  38. I also know about ghostscript 2.5.2 on the Mac and its ability to
  39. make picts, but I think there is an unacceptable loss in quality
  40. in the resulting pict image.
