  25.                DIGITAL NAMES STADECKER VICE PRESIDENT,
  26.                         EXECUTIVE OPERATIONS

  29. MAYNARD, MA -- January 27, 1993 -- Digital Equipment Corporation 
  30. today announced the appointment of Adriana Stadecker as Vice 
  31. President, Executive Operations, reporting to Robert B. Palmer, 
  32. president and CEO.
  33.  
  34.      Stadecker, 46, has been managing the company's redesign and 
  35. restructuring efforts and working with the senior management team 
  36. to lead the implementation of the new company direction. In this 
  37. new position, she also will be responsible for overseeing the 
  38. process of developing strategic and operational plans for achieving 
  39. the company's short- and long-term financial and business 
  40. objectives.

  42.      Commenting on the appointment, Palmer said, "Adriana is playing 
  43. a key role in transforming Digital into a more customer-focused and 
  44. more competitive company. Her work is pivotal to building the 
  45. organizational structure and evolving the strategy for returning 
  46. the company to profitability.  She brings a record of success in 
  47. developing business strategies and managing worldwide business 
  48. plans."

  50.      She joined Digital in 1981 and has served in a series of 
  51. business planning and human resource management positions.  In 1987, 
  52. as a group manager in the Printed Wiring Board (PWB) Group, she was 
  53. responsible for the worldwide PWB strategic plan.  Stadecker was 
  54. named group personnel manager, Semiconductor and Interconnect 
  55. Technology, in 1988.  Prior to joining the Office of the President 
  56. in October, 1992, she managed the program office responsible for 
  57. planning and implementing Digital's supply chain change effort and 
  58. was the Worldwide Manufacturing and Logistics human resource 
  59. manager.  Before joining Digital, she held a variety of university 
  60. and government agency research, development, and planning positions 
  61. in the U.S., and prior to that was a practicing architect in 
  62. Argentina.

  64.      Stadecker received a Ph.D. in planning from Massachusetts 
  65. Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1975; and a Master's degree in 
  66. Architecture from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 
  67. 1969.
