- DIGITAL NAMES STADECKER VICE PRESIDENT,
- EXECUTIVE OPERATIONS

- MAYNARD, MA -- January 27, 1993 -- Digital Equipment Corporation
- today announced the appointment of Adriana Stadecker as Vice
- President, Executive Operations, reporting to Robert B. Palmer,
- president and CEO.

- Stadecker, 46, has been managing the company's redesign and
- restructuring efforts and working with the senior management team
- to lead the implementation of the new company direction. In this
- new position, she also will be responsible for overseeing the
- process of developing strategic and operational plans for achieving
- the company's short- and long-term financial and business
- objectives.

- Commenting on the appointment, Palmer said, "Adriana is playing
- a key role in transforming Digital into a more customer-focused and
- more competitive company. Her work is pivotal to building the
- organizational structure and evolving the strategy for returning
- the company to profitability. She brings a record of success in
- developing business strategies and managing worldwide business
- plans."

- She joined Digital in 1981 and has served in a series of
- business planning and human resource management positions. In 1987,
- as a group manager in the Printed Wiring Board (PWB) Group, she was
- responsible for the worldwide PWB strategic plan. Stadecker was
- named group personnel manager, Semiconductor and Interconnect
- Technology, in 1988. Prior to joining the Office of the President
- in October, 1992, she managed the program office responsible for
- planning and implementing Digital's supply chain change effort and
- was the Worldwide Manufacturing and Logistics human resource
- manager. Before joining Digital, she held a variety of university
- and government agency research, development, and planning positions
- in the U.S., and prior to that was a practicing architect in
- Argentina.

- Stadecker received a Ph.D. in planning from Massachusetts
- Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1975; and a Master's degree in
- Architecture from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, in
- 1969.
