  11. I need some input from colleagues using the slart-l list. Is anyone
  12. currently using the BYU F-CAPE/G-CAPE/S-CAPE computerized placement
  13. tests? I have been askedto test all incoming Freshman next summer (about
  14. 700) and while perhaps not the best measure of language ability (there
  15. is no aural/oral component) I have been asked to use the BYU tests (it
  16. is self-correcting and tests reading, grammar, and vocabulary). The BYU
  17. test comes with no ability coefficients. We are testing all first,
  18. second third and fourth semester language students so that we can arrive
  19. at these numbers. We are also talking to William and Mary as they are
  20. doing the same thing. If anyone on this list has some information that
  21. they could give us, I would be very grateful. While programs do differ,
  22. it would be at the very least interesting to see what is going on out
  23. there. Thanks in advance.
