  14. ROBERT X. CRINGELY, one of the most influential journalists in the computer
  15. industry, is coming to Indianapolis on February 1, 1993 to speak on "The
  16. Future of the Software Industry" at the 1993 ICDS Conference (4:00-9:00 pm),
  17. which is being held at the University Place Conference Center, 850 W. Michigan
  18. St., IUPUI.

  20. Those attending will include MIS managers from buisiness and government
  21. organizations, representatives from the software and computer related
  22. industries, and consumers of computer and software products.

  24. Cringely is the author of *Accidental Empires:  How the Boys of Silicon
  25. Valley Make Their Millions, Battle Foreign Competition, and Still Can't
  26. Get a Date*.  It is a "fascinating story of the $65 billion personal-
  27. computer industry and its legendary leaders, such as Bill Gates of
  28. Microsoft, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs of Apple. . . . It effectively
  29. sets the stage for the rough-and-tough era to come, offering invaluable
  30. lessons for anyone trying to get a grip on the economy of the 21st
  31. Century" (Book cover).  Cringely writes the "Notes from the Field"
  32. column in Infoworld, which is a weekly business computer magazine read
  33. by 500,000 people all around the world.  He holds a Ph.D. in physics
  34. from Stanford and is a former foreign correspondent.
