- ROBERT X. CRINGELY, one of the most influential journalists in the computer
- industry, is coming to Indianapolis on February 1, 1993 to speak on "The
- Future of the Software Industry" at the 1993 ICDS Conference (4:00-9:00 pm),
- which is being held at the University Place Conference Center, 850 W. Michigan
- St., IUPUI.

- Those attending will include MIS managers from buisiness and government
- organizations, representatives from the software and computer related
- industries, and consumers of computer and software products.

- Cringely is the author of *Accidental Empires: How the Boys of Silicon
- Valley Make Their Millions, Battle Foreign Competition, and Still Can't
- Get a Date*. It is a "fascinating story of the $65 billion personal-
- computer industry and its legendary leaders, such as Bill Gates of
- Microsoft, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs of Apple. . . . It effectively
- sets the stage for the rough-and-tough era to come, offering invaluable
- lessons for anyone trying to get a grip on the economy of the 21st
- Century" (Book cover). Cringely writes the "Notes from the Field"
- column in Infoworld, which is a weekly business computer magazine read
- by 500,000 people all around the world. He holds a Ph.D. in physics
- from Stanford and is a former foreign correspondent.
