  19.    Announcing a new Listserv list for college and university teaching
  20.    assistants around the world.  This list is for those students who
  21.    help or assist the professor or lecturer in their classroom duties.

  23.    University teaching assistants have a variety of responsibilities.
  24.    The purpose of this discussion group is to give teaching assistants
  25.    the opportunity to discuss the roles of being a teacher and a
  26.    student.  Some questions to stimulate our conversation include:

  28.       What kinds of teaching techniques do you use?
  29.       How can you motivate students and stimulate discussion?
  30.       How can you promote a supportive classroom climate?
  31.       How can you set expectations for students that are high enough to
  32.        challenge but not to overwhelm?
  33.       How can you review for tests, write examinations and assignments and
  34.        grade?
  35.       How can you balance being a teacher and student?
  36.  
  37.    These and many more issues can be discussed in this teaching
  38.    assistant discussion group.  Your ideas are encouraged.
