- Perhaps before you start writing that serials manual, you'd like to look through
- OSU's procedures for check-in and serials module records set-up. The
- periodicals set-up procedures are fairly far evolved and might prove useful. The
- procedures for continuations (annuals, biennials, irregulars, microforms) are in
- draft form and still being worked on. I anticipate we'll have them in a bit
- better shape within the next couple weeks or so as we are moving forward with
- migrating from SC-10 and expect to start working on continuations set-up in
- earnest sometime in February.
-
- I expect we will also be developing some internal procedures for handling
- check-in of state and federal documents, as we also need to get those
- transferred before SC-10 goes down in late March.
-
- We were sufficiently into set-up and check-in by last September (after going to
- V.4) that Don Chvatal (GEAC Western Region sales rep) spent a couple days with
- us learning to use the serials module. If he comes through your area, you might
- want to "snag" him and see what suggestions he has. Serials staff were quite
- impressed with his ability to come in, learn how the module was working, do work
- on the system, and understand the various problems and "glitches" we were
- encountering.
-
- Let me know if you'd like me to send you those procedures.
