  13. At Boise State University we do  not conduct any special training sessions
  14. for ADVANCE.  We do incorporate time in each library instruction session
  15. on using the catalog.  (We currently use a directly wired laptop with a
  16. display panel that sits on an overhead projector.  Conducting searches that
  17. directly relate to assignments keeps interest.)  We have a couple of
  18. handouts: a one sheet basic searching and a more detailed two sheet.
  19. We tried putting the complete manual out but those walked away very quickly.
  20. ADVANCE is one of the more user friendly online catalogs and many people
  21. can figure out how to use it.  Our reference staff also circulates in the
  22. catalog area fairly frequently to help people who are stuck.
