  12. Ya know..you wouldn't think my criteria for a place to eat would be that
  13. hard...it's only a 3-part test, after all:

  15. 1) Has to be able to seat folks for dinner at about 10pm on a Friday
  16. night;
  17.  
  18. 2) Has to have a real menu and real waiting service; and
  19.  
  20. 3) Has to serve coffee and dessert.

  23.  Il Fornaio on Cowper St. off University in Palo Alto would seem to fit 
  24.  the above criteria. Serves dinner until midnight, good pasta, never had
  25.  any problems with the service(it's usually quite good), cant vouch for 
  26. the coffee(I'm more of a wine-port person), however I'm sure that I must
  27. have had the coffee on occasion and don't remember it being *bad* (obviously
  28. not too memorable either).

  32. So far, just about the only places which seem to fit this criteria are
  33. Max's at the Stanford Center, and Friday's down by Valco.  [Let's rule
  34. out places like Denny's, shall we?..I guess there is an unstated 4th
  35. criteria:  has to serve real food :-)].

  37. Anybody have any suggestions?  A group of us go out pretty regularly on
  38. Friday nights after a class that gets out at 9:30pm.  Most of us live in
  39. the Palo Alto to Sunnyvale area.
