- Most modern cars aren't really meant for touring. In a car like a
- Lexus or a big Acura or almost any BMW or Mercedes a trip like that is
- a positive pleasure. I usually do it in four stages - San Francisco to
- San Louis Obisbo, SLO to Santa Barbara, SB to Los Angelese, LA to San
- Diego. At the end of each stage stop for a half hour or so, get out of
- the car, walk around, visit a cafe. On the drive itself, don't focus on
- "getting there" but enjoy the drive. Slow down, enjoy the scenery. On 1 near
- the coast, enjoy the feel of driving around all those mountain turns. If,
- as you're driving you see something interesting, STOP and look at it.
