I saw some very nice B+B in Pacific Grove, somewhere in the vicinity of the
American Canning Outlet, facing the ocean. It looked really nice on the outside anyway. You may want to check under Pacific Grove under AAA's tour guide. We stayed at hotels/motels at Monterey last couple of times and it was expensive and bland.
Have anyone tried the Sardine Factory at Monterey? I thought they are supposed
to be pretty famous. We went to Outrigger's last time; the service was slow,
the food mediocre. I wouldn't recommend it. Actually most of the restaurants/
hotels in Monterey felt like tourist traps. We did found one casual place for
breakfast that was really good- it's right next to the factory outlet at Pacific
Grove. Can't remember the full name, but it has "hamburger" something in it.
There doesn't appear to be a whole lot of restaurants or hotels around San
Simeon. As I recalled, we had to stop for gas in a teeny bit of a combo gas
station/grocery store at San Simeon. Felt like we were in hick country.
Forgot how far Solvang is from San Simeon. Maybe nice to detour there for
