  10.     I find the use of the word `zucchinis' even odder than the use of `MIP'.
  11.     Here a plural word is not recognised as such an an `s' is added to form what to
  12.     me seems a double plural. To the majority of anglophones however the
  13.     singular/plural pair is zucchini/zucchinis rather than zucchino/zucchini.

  15. That's because we've adopted the word into English, at which point it
  16. follows normal English behaviour.  Well, into American actually.  I think
  17. we call them something else.  But to preserve the Italianate endings would
  18. only be valid if both singular and plural had been adopted at the same time;
  19. to use the otherwise is just pretentiousness, of the style of British
  20. politicians talking about the new syllabi in schools...
