- :>I talked with Mr. Paganucci in his office today at 10:00. The discussion
- :>was brief. He told me that unplugging terminals is misuse of equipment. He
- :>told me that he is giving me an informal warning. He made me state that I
- :>did not intend to unplug terminals or "misuse" equipment again.
- :
- :I can only conclude from the original denial of this resource together with
- :this persecution for its aquisition that LaVerne Lazzereschi (and probably
- :Mr. Paganucci) is effectively computer illiterate, and has no clear idea what
- :she is restricting. Absurd as this particular case is, it seems to me that
- :there is an interesting underlying theme here: these two people have the
- :authority to place and enforce restrictions upon something of which they
- :are fundementally ignorant.
-
- I believe that Mr. Paganucci is computer-illiterate. Ms. Lazzereschi works
- in the part of the Office of the Registrar that deals with the jasper, but I
- think she is also computer-illiterate or computer-functionally-illiterate.
- However, I must say that Mr. Paganucci is not responsible for making the
- policies of the Office of the Registrar. He only enforced them. It is
- possible, although imporbable, that he agrees with me and supports what I
- did. Ms. Lazzereschi is not high enough in the Office of the Registrar to
- be making policy decisions. I believe that she reacted the way she did
- because I made her angry because I demonstrated to her and the rest of the
- Office that the final authority in life is action.

- :>What I understand he did in replacing his terminal by a powerbook was

- :
- :Creative in theory, if utterly absurd in practice :)
- :
- :I suppose, though, he might have violated copyright, if the information was
- :for reading, but not for copying. I would be most entertained if they are
- :suggesting the copyright of THIS information is restricted...
-
- The University does not consider the SoC, whole or in part, confidential.
- Also, the material is not copyrighted. It is public domain.
-
- Remember, the charge against me _had_nothing_to_do_with_information_. It
- had only to do with _misuse_of_hardware_. According to them, my crime was
- unplugging an RS232 jack.
-
- For those of you who live in the dorms, if a lightbulb in your room burns
- out, do not attempt to replace it. To do so is misuse of University
- electronic (or in this case electrical) equipment. Lightbulbs should be
- installed by qualified, trained, University employeed custodial staff ONLY.
