  18. Hmm, I'm not sure what angle you're coming from.  Are you thinking of moving
  19. here or just visiting?  The two require totally different answers.

  21. So I'll stick to generalities.

  23. Swarthmore is a suburb of Philadelphia, and is definitely a small college
  24. town type.  Crime rate is low.  It's very much a residential area with very
  25. little in terms of stores.  The price of houses are ridiculously high,
  26. compared to the neighboring towns.  From my biased point of view, I'd say
  27. middle class to rich folks actually own houses here.

  29. There are several bus/trolley/train routes that will get you to Philadelphia
  30. in about 30-45 minutes for $1.45-$3.00 (depending on your route).  With the
  31. I-95 and I-476, driving will take even less.  So access to Philadelphia's
  32. culturual centers is easy.

  34. Then there are the surround malls in Media and Springfield, quaint
  35. restuarants, ubiquitous multiple cinema complexes, etc, all within 10-15
  36. minute driving distance.

  38. The life on Swarthmore College itself is a totally different matter but I
  39. don't know if you're going to be living near or working at the college or
  40. not.

  42. Hmm, this is very hard question to answer unless I know why you're
  43. interested in Swarthmore.
