- Hugh,
-
- A couple of months ago I bought an AT&T 5400 and am extremely
- pleased with its range, clarity, and security. The features you
- MUST (imo) are:
-
- Auto Security: prevents other handsets from using your base unit
- when your handset is not on the charger. Higher-end
- models accomplish this by having the base unit
- periodically (i.e. every few seconds) verify that
- the handset it is in contact with is the authorized one.
-
- Auto Channel: The base unit constantly scans for the clearest channel
- and automatically switches the conversation to that
- channel.
-
- The AT&T 5400 has these features and can be had for around $100. I
- believe it lists at $129.99, but I got mine at Costco for $89.99.
