  15. Well, for washer, dryer:  Maytag.  Quiet and well built.
  16. After 8 years the dryer has only received a new lightbulb.
  17. After 6 years the washer intake valves were sludged up with deposits.
  18. (Water here isn't that great.  We have strainers on now.)
  19. A bit pricey (especially since you have to find all this at once...)
  20. but nice since they are simpler mechanically (no belts)
  21. and work great in the laundromat I used to go to.  Now we have a pair
  22. of our own.

  24. Dish Washer:  Maytag (quiet), Kitchenaid (reliable but not as quiet).
  25. We did have a drain valve fail on the Kitchenaid after
  26. four years but since they don't make that part, it was located in
  27. the front (I replaced it) and only cost $28, they are forgiven.

  29. Fridge:  Well, we like our Whirlpool.  The icemaker is
  30. indestructible and it keeps milk longer than a week.  I'm happy.

  32. Everything else, we bought whatever we could get used.  (stove).
  33. GE (I think) makes a great smooth cooktop that doesn't have
  34. ridges or metal trim along the porcelain top that traps every
  35. spec of grease that walks through the door....
