  24. This problem turns out to be a serial line problem. I tried it without the 
  25. modem. The uugetty now runs on ttym2 and reads from a 9600 terminal. 
  26. If I just power-off the terminal, I can see the DCD signal to become inactive, 
  27. as requested for a HANGUP condition (described in serial(7), and analyzed 
  28. with an interface analyzer.) The only active signals are now DTR and RTS. 
  29. However, the process on ttym2 does NOT die. It is absolutely unclear to 
  30. me how this can happen, because I thought that this would be the handshake
  31. condition...
