- Simple. Your boot disk should have a jumper on it set to the "master"
- position. Your other disk should have a jumper set to the "slave"
- position. They might not be marked as such. Consult your drive's
- docs or contact the manufacturer. I know that Seagate has an
- automated information service on their phone number - just key in the
- drive model (from a touch-tone phone) and listen for all the specs on
- it. Once you set the jumpers, you're done.
-
- Don't assume that your old drive is already a "master" drive. Some
- drives have a third jumper position for "stand-alone" operation. Your
- new drive will almost certainly NOT be in the slave position.

-
- Obviously, that isn't the jumper. Some controllers don't have an LED
- jumper. Or you may have just found the wrong one. On my controller,
- the proper pins were the outer two on the 4-position connector. I
- don't know what you'll do with only a 2-pin plug, though. Your
- controller's documentation usually mentions this.
-
- PS: by "documentation", I mean the little 3"x5" piece of paper that
- most people ignore that comes with the card.
