- Hi,
-
- I have a rather strange modem problem: I have a 1200 baud Hayes compat.
- modem (Repko M2000trio) that I want to connect to my 386 clone.
- I got it from a friend, who used it with a PS/2 and Procomm 2.3, which
- worked ok.
- However, when I attach it to my 386 with Procomm 2.4.2, it does not dial
- any phone number properly: I can hear the (phone) dialing tone through
- the internal speaker, waiting for a number to be dialed. But the dialing
- itself is just a short period of (fluctiating) noise (which length is
- proportional to the length of the phone number, so it DOES try to dial
- something). And then of course, nothing happens.
- With my friend's PS/2, everything still works, i.e. we can hear the
- dialing pulses.
- I've tried it with a 286 (Bull Micral, so no cheap clone...), but I get
- the same negative result. Also, I've tried using Windows' (3.0 and 3.1)
- Terminal program, but again: no luck.
-
- What could cause this problem? I don't suppose it's the serial cable,
- since it is a full 25-wire one (or is it wrong to connect all 25 pins???)
-
- Any help would be greatly appreciated.
-
- Marcel.
