- Due to our very security minded corporation, email to outsiders is somewhat
- painful compared to usenet postings, so my 0.02 goes here. Since OS/2 is
- booting from drive C: and SWAPPER.DAT is on drive D:, you will find it
- virtually impossible to run chkdsk on either drive. chkdsk refuses to run if
- files are open on the disk (with good reason - corrupt the disk, corrupt the
- open files, crash the system, etc). In addition to SWAPPER.DAT, many .DLLs
- are open on C: along with OS2.INI, and OS2SYS.INI. To run chkdsk, boot from
- the installation floppy, insert disk one when prompted, and at the first white
- with blue letters screen, press escape. Insert disk 2, and type
- "chkdsk c: /f", then "chkdsk d: /f:3". Alternatively, if you don't have the
- service pack installed yet, get seboot20.zip from ftp-os2.nmsu.edu. seboot20
- allows you to create a single floppy disk to boot from, much handier than the
- installation disks, but it only works if the boot floppy drive is a 1.44MB or
- greater.
