- Subject: University of South Florida Vehicle Registration Procedures
- To: <CWIF-L@WUVMD>
-
-
- 1. We handle vehicle registrations for faculty, staff & students through the
- mail as well as across the counter. During peak periods, we use multiple
- locations for decal sales. We serve a university community of approximately
- 35,000.
-
- 2. The condensed fee structure is as follows:
- Annual Decal for vehicle.................. $50.00
- Vehicle semester decal.................... $26.00
- Annual Decal for motorcycle............... $11.00
- Remote Decal.............................. $10.00
- Monthly Permit............................ $10.00
-
- 3. The registrant completes a scantron sheet which we use for our data
- entry into our computer system. Our system is a PC-based, networked,
- stand-alone system. All parking-related application software is written
- in house by our MIS section.
-
- 4. Traffic citations are written on a hand-held computerized ticket writing
- system. It is an Epson system with a touch-screen for data entry. At the
- end of a shift, the computer is placed in a comm-cradle where the data is
- downloaded into the PC host system. Concurrently, the battery is recharged
- while in the comm cradle. Once all hand held machines have transferred their
- data into the PC host, a batch process updates the main data base and transfers
- a new "hot-list" (tow list) into each individual machine. The next morning,
- the enforcement personnel have a fully charged system with the latest
- information in it. Citations range from $10.00-$100.00
