  16. There are also some spirals used to gain elevation for crossing major
  17. bridges.  I have a circa-1950 track chart for the Chicago & Eastern
  18. Illinois (later Missouri Pacific, now Union Pacific) showing a spiral
  19. for the Mississippi bridge between Thebes, Illinois and Illmo,
  20. Missouri. Without checking, I think the spiral is on the Illinois side.
  21.  Does anyone recall other railroad bridges with such a pattern?
