  17. When I was on holiday in Italy in the early 1970s the train classes were
  18. abbreviated to A, D, DD, R and TEE, which stood for Accelerato, Diretto,
  19. Direttissimo, Rapido and Trans Euro Express respectively.  Accelerato
  20. was the local stopping service, the term `Locale' apparently having once
  21. been in use but since dropped.  I was staying near Asti, which was kool
  22. because the Accelerati were worked by steam engines.
