- My co-worker breeds Dals and from him I've learned/observed the
- following...
- 1- they are NOT clumsy; actually just the opposite IMHO.
- 2- they are NOT dumb- possibly difficult to train- he says he's got
- a stubborn one but I think it's personality of the dog.
- 3- they ARE energetic. I don't know that high strug or hyper is the
- right description but a five mile run is nothing for his male. We ahve
- what I thought was an energetic labrador who after an hour with the Dals
- looks ( and feels) like a lumbering elephant:-)
- 4-They SHED all year round and black and white hairs.
- 5-They may have some diet requirements. If I've got this right
- Dals are the only dog with uric acid in their urine(as do humans) and
- might have kidney problems. I thnk it is rare but my co-worker feeeds
- his dals a homemade rice recipe gotton from some vet school doing reserarch on
- Dals.
- I hope I didn't focus on the negatives but we didn't get a Dalmation for
- some of the negative reasons listed above. You may be able to handle exercise
- requiremetns etc with less difficulty than us. They are sweet dogs though
- and not stupid!
