- We have 3 dogs, all less than 1 1/2 yrs old -- plus a temporary puppy
- (until Christmas Eve). This is DEFINITELY NOT something I would
- recommend!!! At least our oldest is fairly well trained and the
- middle dog is partially trained (she knows SIT, COME, and TREAT...).
- The two youngest are littermates and I am counting the days until
- the temporary visitor leaves (3 more days...). We have to go out
- of our way to spend time with each dog, and it is very hard (especially
- since the cats need us too and Christmas is getting very hectic!).
- If you are willing and able to put in the time to train 2 dogs then
- its great, but it takes an awful lot of work. Littermates seem to
- bond more (in my limited experience -- I never had a dog before and
- got all of these since last December), but that doesn't necessarily
- mean that they won't bond to you. Waiting at least a few months
- between new dogs seems to work better than getting 2 at once. I have
- noticed that our lab, who was an only dog for 9 months, is more of a
- people dog than the others. She loves all the puppies, but she likes
- to spend alot of time with us too.
